Appeal against calculation of points at the FIA European Championship Rallycross, in Holjes, Sweden.
At the Championship in Holjes, July 1-2, the Stewards of the Meeting, chaired by Mr. Borje Jonsson, decided to only give half points to the class FIA 1400 CUP. The driver Sven Seeliger handed in an appeal against this decision. He stated that the entry list contained 15 drivers when the entry list was fixed, but that the Stewards had changed the entry list after the first qualification round. The decision of the Stewards of the Meetingwas not unanimous.
Mr. Seelinger, represented by Horst Engelken, stressed that the entry list and the first qualification round contained 15 drivers and that, therefore, full point should be given in the FIA championship.
Mr. Borje Jonsson has, as chairman of the Stewards, referred to the written report left as a motive for the decision of the Stewards. [note motorsportlaw.org: they disqualified the 15th car after the first timed practice due to fact that the car concerned was not anymore homologated, but this has of course no impact on the number of starters. And -by the way- how is it possible that a non-homologated car could pass scrutineering!].
Decision to be announced, August 11, 2000.
The entry list that was present at the event contained 15 drivers. No appeal was made against this entrylist. It is therefore -with reference to the FIA regulation for the 1400 CUP for Rallycross considered as final.
In the light of these facts, the Committee of Law approve Mr. Sven Seeligers appeal.
Alterations in the list of results due to this approval should be made by the organisers of the event.
This decision can be appealed against to the FIA according to the FIA regulations.
