During the 2000 season, a total of 8 drivers have been tested on the use of doping. These tests have been conducted at the Marlboro Masters, the EC Golden Tulip Rally and the Dutch round of the EC Rallycross championchip at the Eurocircuit in Valkenswaard.
Motorsportslaw.org witnessed some of these doping controls and was impressed by the professionalism of the procedure by the Dutch doping control organisation DOCONED.
One rallycross driver tested positively. This means that the urine sample of this driver contained banned substances.
However, Motorsportlaw.org does not expect that the driver will be sanctioned because:
1. the driver disclosed his medication prior to the doping control;
2. the Dutch ASN published doping regulations but neglected to publish a list of banned substances.
If the driver would be punished, this decision will most likely be annulled by a court.
